City Fires All Employees; Outsources Everything

Could this really be the future of municiple government? Apparently a California city, just outside Los Angeles, has taken this drastic step. They are now billing themselves as the only city in America to have outsourced their entire workforce.

“Remember the Soviet Union?” said Hector Alvarado, who heads a civic advocacy group. “They had a lot of bureaucracy, and they lost. Maywood was like that. Now people know if they don’t work, they will be laid off. Much better this way.”
