2004 Goals, Objectives and Strategies
Overall County Goal:

To provide quality services, whether required by Federal or State law or by local determination, to the residents of the County, as well as to County employees who are clients of administrative departments, in the most cost-efficient manner.

Health, human service, public safety, public facilities, economic development, job creation, and quality of life concerns are the County's key programmatic issues. What County government does in these regards must be guided by the financial resources which can be directed to these programmatic issues.

The County administration is committed to maintaining the 31.2 percent reduction in the property tax levy over the past five years. The County Administration is committed to prioritizing its activities among its programmatic issues to live within the constraints of the self-imposed property tax reduction plan and is confident that it can do so.

This policy is considered critical to the economic stability of the community and may serve to encourage other local governments and school districts to also reduce taxes and restrain their spending.
